Know India-SA highlights Sir Jadeja style

Ravindra Jadeja, commonly known as Sir Ravindra Jadeja is a man with bags full of sarcasm and jokes, whose tweets every eye must have passed through. Hang on a bit, here I am talking about tweets from a parody account named after him. The twitter handle with the name @SirJadeja has some of the best sarcastic tweets after KRK’s profile. He has his own way to tell a story, let’s have a look how Sir Jadeja (parody account) expressed his emotions on India’s dismal batting performance against South Africa into the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack during the second Twenty20 international.

His first tweet in this match started in full swing with Rohit Sharma, when India was almost collapsing and South Africa was chasing the winner trophy. And finally that moment came where Indian team very cordially gave an invitation to their audience’s who could raise fingers on them.

This post of him is weird and kind of ‘wanna be’ who want to go back to the team. But let me remind him that jo hota acche ke liye hota. At least he has the opportunity to tweet about the loss of the team. India rolled out in just 17.2 overs, to record their second-lowest total in T20 internationals, after being defeated at 74 runs only by Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in February 008.

But as soon as the match turned out to be India’s failure, fans vented their fury by throwing water bottles from the galleries. What to say about the government rule, Odisha has banned the use of small bottles but not the big bottles unlike other states (as reported in HT).

Then suddenly that awkward moment came when there were bottles all around leaving no injuries to the players. Sir Jadeja in his sarcastic way tweeted this and even compared the situation with our beloved Pakistan opponents.

SirJadeja even tried to stop this instigating bottle violence but could not help it out instead came to a conclusion that may be the spectators were Modi supporter or ask Dhoni to look for better options to survive on the field.

After this tousled match between India and South Africa it was the time to raise questions on the captaincy of India, like it happens whenever India losses. But this time it was more aggressive because SA won the match by 6 wickets and 672 bottles (Pun Intended). Now it was the turn of Dhoni, who came to the picture, but being a cricketer SirJadeja has a full respect for his country and his co-cricketers. His later tweets were full with providing supports and giving cheers to the Indian team. After all, this is a game in which winning and losing is the part and parcel of life.

Kohli achieved what others couldn’t!

Just concluded Ind-Sri Lanka test series, will always be remembered as Sangakkara’s swansong. But for newly crowned Indian captain Virat Kohli, it will always be his first taste of success. Not many would have bet for Kohli’s team to achieve this feat which even Dhoni’s dream team was not able to. In fact, it was due from 1993 when India won a test series last time in Sri Lanka. It was a tricky series as both Sri Lankan and Indian test team was under transition. Kohli’s team passed with flying colours.

Undoubtedly, Indians were dominant throughout the series. If not for that one session in the first test where Chandimal went berserk, we would have clean swept the series (India won 2-1). But let’s talk about positives first. The first thing which was pleasing to see was all the players contributing at some point of the series. Even Stuart Binny (pun intended) contributed by his stroke-filled 49 in the last innings of the last test and chipped in with a couple of crucial wickets. Kohli rightly stated, “This series belongs to bowlers”. Special mention should be given to Ashwin. He has never bowled with so much consistency throughout the series. And yes he was bowling off breaks this time! He looked so still when releasing the balls and he was quite slower in the air. This is Ashwin reinventing himself as a test bowler. And he was ably supported by Ishant and company. Ishant has been in the Indian side for nearly a decade and still he shows this kind of consistency once in a while. From troubling Ponting in his famous 2007 spell to winning a test at Lords, his noteworthy contributions come very far in between. This can’t be acceptable for a guy who wants to spearhead the Indian bowling unit. Umesh Yadav and Amit Mishra also did their job convincingly.  And I would see this as Harbhajan’s last series as he would not be playing in Indian test side again.

Moving on to batting department which is really very vulnerable. My generation has never seen Indian batting department constantly being changed. We are quite used to Dravid, Tendulkar and Laxman coming out to bat one after another with support from Sehwag, Ganguly, Gambhir, and Dhoni. Gone are those days and we have to stop being nostalgic. Coming back to present, I would say we don’t have many quality test batsman to choose from. But the current Indian test team will have Murali Vijay, Pujara, Rahane and Kohli as regulars in all conditions. I won’t compromise on these players even if they have failed in some matches. These four should be the core of Indian test batting team for near future. Other places should be fought by KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Dhawan and others. This series have not been dominated by any single batsman. And all have played useful knocks once in a while. Pujara once again proved that he is the class act and cannot be side-lined. His only complete failure has been Australia series and other than that I have not seen him returning from a tour without any contribution. His test average is still more than 50 and better than the rest of the wolf pack. And as far as wicketkeeper is concerned I would go for W Saha (we miss u Dhoni). However, Naman Ojha has shown some promise but he could have done much better. I would say N Ojha missed a great opportunity to cement his place.

Enough of laurels now. We have to accept that this was one of the weakest Sri Lankan team which were also beaten by Pakistan few months back with the same margin.  We were on top for the most part of the first match, but we didn’t finish it. A numerous number of times in the last decade I have seen India losing a test match for not removing the tail ender of the opposition. We lack killer instincts of the Australian. People say that it’s in our genes. But I firmly believe that Kohli is here to change this notion. And I would give credit to Kohli for his proactive captaincy in this series. He was never complacent and always tried to get things done rather than waiting for things to happen.

As my favourite captain, Ganguly always stresses that a team’s legacy is determined by how they perform outside of the subcontinent in test matches. I firmly believe this and will have my fingers crossed. What gives me hope is Kohli’s mind-set which is evident in his recent statement “I am ready to loose trying to win”.

And the Kabaddi season-2 starts tonight

First of all kudos to Star Sports India for all its efforts in publicising the game so much after all it’s one game where we have ruled the world. No one has ever defeated us at any big international tournament in Kabaddi. With the IPL matches making rounds people had somewhat forgotten the game and also the chant kabaddi kabaddi with which most of us grew with.

The Pro Kabaddi League inaugural season was the second-most viewed sports tournament on Indian TV in 2014 after the IPL and sponsors are anticipating the same response this year. With the #LePanga campaign they have no doubt stolen the hearts of millions and also have put the first foot correctly. The most surprising fact is if people think that Cricket is the only factor which makes our country exicted then last year Pro Kabaddi League’s first season was watched by 435 million people! That’s a really impressive number considering the Cricket World Cup this year with a viewership of 635 million.

With celebrities like Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachan, Amir Khan, Sharukh Khan I can only expect these numbers to grow more and more. Today’s match starts with Jaipur and Mumbai fighting against each other. It would be quite interesting to watch whether Mumbai would be able to take revenge for its last season’s defeat.

So what are you guys waiting for? Make sure you packet of popcorns is ready while you watch the new exciting match of Kabaddi season 2 today on Star Sports India.

[box]By Shashank[/box]

ajinkya rahane

#Deshkeliye- after a long time India is doing good in Hockey

Capture11_Fotor_Collage

What is the first thing that clicks your mind after going through this hashtag? Is it a new tagline of Hero Honda (Desh ki Dhadkan) or a new video song Desh of MSG? Lemme tell you that this is the campaign launched by Hockey World League 2015 both men and women. Yes, it says to do things for ‘Our India.’

We all know Hockey is the national game and the country has won eight Olympic gold medals in it, but do we really consider it so! Let’s ask this question to everyone who says ‘I am an Indian.’ On the other hand we have done full justice for Cricket and have made it the most popular sport. Leaving far behind Hockey and other sports cricket has won the race of popularity. I am not the one who is giving this title to cricket but we all know it from the bottom of our heart.

I just want to quote an example here, how many of us knew Hockey World league was going on? Leave this; just answer how many of us knew June 26 was scheduled for a match between India and Pakistan that ended in a draw. Only 20 to 30% (lucky ones) who have deep interest in sports or those who keep themselves updated with news, but what about the rest? Had the condition been same when there would have been the screening of a India-Pakistan Cricket match? We would have ended up fighting with our bosses for holidays, no going to market or partying out without match screening facilities in restaurant and lounge. It is like a festival that we celebrate with bursting crackers all around when India wins.

This Hockey World league too has brought many achievements in quarter finals for India like June 20 India Vs France in which India won by 3-2. Next was on June 23 India Vs Polland in which India won by 3-0. Finally India- Pakistan on June 26 which was a draw by 2-2. These have been the continuous victory for tema India. But the last qualifying match between India and Australia on June 28 will decide the destiny of India in the World league.

Here, it does not matter we win or lose but what matters most is the differentiation between Cricket and Hockey. Like tortoise in “slow and steady wins the race” Hockey is also trying its best, and what it needs most is the support from Indians!!! Abhi bhi kuch bigda nahi hai we can still boost our sporting spirit for Indian Hockey team, #DESHKELIYE.

India Bangladesh on field from Tomorrow

FotorCreated

If any Journalism paper has questions like why Bangladesh is in news, what will you write? Obviously the first thing will be PM Modi’s visit to Bangladesh but let’s get aware if you are not that from tomorrow we have India vs. Bangladesh test series. So, take leave from offices, make excuses to your bosses, bunk from classes and sit back in front of television as a Lazy Lad.

Before the match starts, it has witnessed lots of tremble. Let’s have a look on them. Firstly, Bangladesh cricket team manager, Khaled Mahmud resigned ahead of the test series. After a daylong drama and talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) authorities, he decided to carry on for this series. Second, opener KL Rahul suddenly was confirmed with dengue and will overlook India’s lone Test in Bangladesh. God knows which Anopheles mosquito has taken revenge from him.

Under these shakes something that gave relief to cricket lovers was the ‘son of sardar’ off-spinner Harbhajan Singh who returned to the squad after playing his last international match in March 2013. All these were the updates of the upcoming match but news which relieved history to India’s glory was Rahul Dravid to coach the India Under-19 and ‘A’ teams. The trio of Sachin, Ganguly and Laxman to will be seen drawing up a roadmap for the national Indian cricket team.

This is eighth Test match between Indian and Bangladesh out of which India have won six Tests and one turning out to be a draw. Let’s keep our fingers crossed to maintain the winning cup against them. So, get ready for the superstitions like- hil mat warna out ho jayega.

Why can’t any other country be like Australia?

Sport-in-Australia

It’s not a joke to win the cricket world cup for five times that to when it’s happened for just 11 times. It was the team that made to the first world cup final and since then has rarely disappointed its supporters. Not to the surprise, from Olympics to football, the team nowhere has been an underdog. So the question is that how does Australia manage so well in every game?

The answer lies somewhere in the country’s nationalism. One can see it through the prism of cold war, when major nations involved in the cold war made everything from sports to space an issue of prestige. But as the time passed priorities changed and sports in many countries became a thing of less importance than things like science and technology, literature and war etc.

One thing has made permanent space in the Australian blood and that’s sports. Do you remember Michael Phelps’ arrest? He was arrested for drink and drive and it made the headlines worldwide. Now, look at Saina Nehwal. She got the hold of number one in the world badminton ranking and how did media react to it or to say did she get the same coverage as the Indian cricket team got for the world cup. Sania has to struggle for getting a little amount of space. In other words sports apart from cricket are of less importance for our country.

We cannot and should not blame cricket for the bad of other games and Hockey in particular but an Indian kid lives with cricket and dies with it. And this may be one of the reasons that Australia is far better a team than India when it comes to hockey. The reason behind may be that the Kangaroos celebrate Hockey equally and swimming too is not at all discriminated.

We’ve a so called nationalist government at the center, the writer uses so called because it is still to be known that how this government does defines nationalism. Here’s a question, when the Indian cricket team was leaving for the cricket world cup, PM Modi had individually tweeted for every cricket play. OK, now can the government explain that what particular steps have been taken for the so called national game hockey?

That is where Australia has a distinction in comparison with India or any other country. They don’t discriminate in particular against any game, be it be cricket, hockey or football and that’s why they are excellent at everything. On the one hand world powers like US, Russia and China have not even raised to the standards of Bangladesh, when it comes to cricket, on the other hand developing nations like India and China could never raise their standards in the world football.

If things are allowed to be generalized, it can be said that sports and nationalism are synonyms in Australia, which is not exactly the case in any other country and unless it becomes so, one can’t match Australian sporting standards.

A supporter in need is a supporter indeed- when the Indian supporters failed its team

1

Indian cricket team supporters are not an all weather friend. As they are the part of this society, they don’t have any option to behave the otherwise. They would take the credit for your victory but won’t own your defeat.[gap height=”20″]

Examples- 1

Remember the neighboring aunty who can’t appreciate anyone but the one who scored maximum in the class. Similarly less than a century or a five wickets or a victory is an equal crime. The crowd and won’t let you live, if you don’t live up to its expectation.

Example- 2

As we’ve grown up watching Bollywood movies and we can substantiate any real life situation with a movie example. So here is the one- when a man in a movie dies exactly at the point of his marriage, the death is attributed to the bride. The so religious logic is her hard luck caused the death.

The new Indian Bahu at the receiving end, Anushka-

Post reading the second example, you need not to be told that we’re talking about outrage against Anushka and Virat. Yes, there has been applied the similar logic that if the man (Virat) failed, it was because the lady (Anushka) was present there in the ground, irrespective of the marriage thing; her presence makes it a bad omen.

But the facts screw the omen-

Fact-1

India played the first world cup match against Pakistan (in which Virat scored a century 107 and India won) and after this match he could not score a single half century in the entire world cup match, be it with or without Anushka.

Fact- 2

Though his worst was against Australia that’s 1 run but against the teams like Afghanistan and Bangladesh he scored 5 and 3 respectively. Again there was no Anushka.

What about this fact ‘Society Aunty?’ BTW, What if when the India team wins and attributes it to the girlfriends of those fans who criticized Virat’s girlfriend? I mean if it is possible that he performed bad because of his girlfriend, may be that he can perform good because of their girlfriend who cooked up this logic but again the writer too seems to be possessed but the Society Aunty because she/he too brought a girl at the receiving end!

Miracle- South Africa lost but this player from South Africa made it to the finals

unknownSon of a South African plastic surgeon, Grant Elliott was born on 21 March 1979 in Johannesburg and now plays for New Zealand. He is an all-rounder. He debuted with 67 at Gauteng in 1996–97, where on the advice of his captain, former New Zealand test skipper Ken Rutherford, who saw the quota system possibly blocking his path to higher honours, Elliott left his native Johannesburg for New Zealand in 2001.

He played one match for South Africa ‘A’ against India ‘A’ before he qualified to play for New Zealand in 2007. Called up to the national team in early 2008 during England‘s tour, he made his Test debut against England in the third test in Napier replacing Jacob Oram. Elliott has gone on to also make his ODI debut for New Zealand against England taking 3 wickets. In his second game he scored his maiden ODI 50. His maiden ODI century was in the 3rd game of the Chappell-Hadlee series scoring 115 against Australia at the SCG on Sunday 8 February 2009.[gap height=”10″]
Despite not playing ODIs since 2013, he was a surprise inclusion for the final 15-man squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. He scored a match winning innings of 84 not out against South Africa in the recently played semi-final, thus helping New Zealand qualify for their maiden Cricket World Cup final and kicking out his own country out of it. South Africa could not make it to the finals but a South African did, all thanks to the quota system.
