Why won’t I give up my LPG subsidy- an open letter to dear parliament!

Dear Parliament,

You want us to give up our LPG subsidies while your members received 60 crores subsidy for your canteen in the past 5 years. This is unfair and unacceptable! I just ask you that can your canteen subsidy be removed?

Dear Parliament, subsidies should be given to those who need it the most. Our MPs earn 50,000 rupees a month and numerous other perks. They do not require this canteen subsidy.

Your canteen rates were last revised in 2010! The common Indian citizen has dealt with price rise of vegetables, fuel and high inflation in the past 5 years. If we can bear the burden of rising prices, MPs can also be asked to pay a little bit more.

Several MPs have already accepted that the time has come to revise these canteen rates. Now can you tell them that people want them to take action and not just make idle promises?

Dear Parliament, our PM and MPs want us to give up our LPG subsidy. I think it is fair enough to ask them to give up their canteen subsidy! Let us ask our MPs to use this money to help those who truly need it.

Let us show MPs that we are watching how they spend our money. Now I ask you for the removal of subsidies from the Parliament canteen.

Cody Walker: I am dying to see him in his debut

Cody Walker popularly known for being the brother of Paul Walker who had also replaced his late brother in “Furious 7″ after he was killed in a 2013 car crash will now make his debut in the World War II movie “USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage” starring alongside Nicolas Cage.

According to the reports the film is scheduled to be released over the 2016 Memorial Day weekend. Though many of the websites have already rolled out the script on which the movie is based on but dustbindubba would like to through a light on the personalities the characters are based on.

Cage is playing the role of Capt. Charles Butler McVay, so who is Capt. Charles Butler McVay? He was an American Naval officer and the commanding officer of theUSS Indianapolis (CA-35) when it was lost in action in 1945, resulting in massive loss of life. Of all captains in the history of the U.S. Navy, he is the only one to have been subjected to court-martial for losing a ship sunk by an act of war.

And USS Indianapolis (CA-35) was a naval warship of the United States Navy. On 30 July 1945, the ship was torpedoed by the Imperial Japanese Navy submarine I-58, sinking in 12 minutes. Of 1,196 crewmen aboard, approximately 300 went down with the ship.

The remaining 900 faced exposure, dehydration, saltwater poisoning, and shark attacks while floating with few lifeboats and almost no food or water. The Navy learned of the sinking when survivors were spotted four days later by the crew of a PV-1 Ventura on routine patrol. Only 317 survived.

Cody Walker is playing one of the crewmen. Of 1,196 crewmen aboard, approximately 300 went down with the ship, while the rest faced exposure, dehydration, saltwater poisoning and shark attacks as they waited for assistance.

The script as well as the role of Cody Walker sounds equally interesting and I am dying to see him in his full form and of course adding to the flavour is none other than Nicolas Cage. What one wants more?

Facebook or Google: Who would be the winner?

Google has announced moves to improve the retail experience for consumers and developers with a ‘buy’ button.

An update to the AdWords system sees the firm testing an option called Purchases on Google, according to a Google AdWords blog post. According to their blog post Google, which already has a Pay option has decided to put shoppers closer to their preferred online stores and give them confidence that transactions are happening in a controlled and secure way.

We had heard similar news from Facebook, a year before when it had started testing its buy button in ads on the newsfeed but there was no announcement since then from Facebook. Though Facebook has a shop section wherein businesses can showcase directly their products but Facebook still lacks behind in providing the option to the customers to buy the product.

In this competitive scenario of using the customers even platforms like Twitter and Pinterest are also moving towards tackling ecommerce but it would be worth noticing who comes out to be winner. On which side are you?

Does Odisha have so much of surplus milk to offer?

The quantity of milk received at Omfed Plant in Odisha has gone up and the surplus milk needs to be despatched to other states. So, Amul has agreed to receive Omfed Milk at its plant in Kolkata. Omfed will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amul for scaling up its operations and standardisation of its products.

With the increasing amount of noise regarding the impurity of milk and of course after the news of expired milk packets being sold by Amul this kind of tie-up just raises one question whom to blame when such instances occur again.

And the next thing is why not a tie-up with a dairy farm from the state like Gowardhan or Shree Durga or may be people who are striving up for setting up a Milk plant in the state. On a rating on poverty scale Odisha stood at number 23 out of the 28 states. A thing I am sure not to be proud of. So isn’t it the responsibility of Mr. Naveen Pattanaik to uplift the state by scaling up the operations in the state itself. At list we can start it in Odisha and even after that if the production increases then one can think of signing it with the plants of other states.

Being from the same state itself I know what kind of value people have attached with Omfed. And if such a brand would have associated it with an Odiya plant then no doubt that would in a way helped in boosting the economic al growth of the state and also would have also helped in building a brand perception about other milk plants in the state.

Chetan Bhagat is half right and half wrong on Bhaktas!

FACIMs (Frustrated And Complex-ridden Indian Males) is the term coined by the pulp fiction writer Chetan Bhagat, for the unfaltering zealots of Hinduism infamous for flooding Twitter with their extreme pro-Hindu sentiments every now and again to showcase their unadulterated Bhakti, in his recently written blog for the veteran national newspaper The Times of India. Bhagat has apparently stated and elaborated four imperative attributes of these highly distinctive species which indubitably set them apart from the crowd.

The first observation doesn’t need much research

First of them is that almost all of these Hindu chauvinists are males. In the first place, this trait seems to be obnoxiously absurd for its outright demeaning portrayal of male gender in this still prevalent patriarchal society. However, a brief research on the twitter itself is suffice to substantiate this statement that indeed 90 percent of these self-righteous fanatics are men.

The second one doesn’t hold a strong ground

Second characteristic says that they lack communication skills, especially when it comes to confabulating in English. This argument though seems to be losing ground as these extremists are likely to be seen well versed with the British/American language while hurling abuses and cuss words to all the Tweeples who dare to write anything contrasting with the popular beliefs of former. The best instance that can be taken into account here is that tweet only of swarming bees of internet Hindus by Sagarika Ghose, which has also been mentioned by author himself in his blog in question. The responses on that tweet says it all.

The third observation has no contradiction

Third essential quality holds the view that these Hindu devotees are generally not good at conversing with women, ultimately resulting in misconduct with the fairer sex of the society. This is something that all readers would readily agree to buy bearing in mind the ill-reputed past activities enacted by them from humiliating women and even going to the extent of physical molestation on Valentine’s Day to disseminating vengeful vitriolic outbursts which are enough to outrage the modesty of any given woman.

The fourth argument is certainly out of place

Fourth one, about which the writer wrote, is that there is an over-riding sense of shame about being Hindu, Hindi speaking and/ or Indian. This argument is certainly out of place as had these bigots be ashamed of being Hindu, they wouldn’t have been such a staunch supporter of the cause in first place. As far as Hindi speaking thing is concerned, their English speaking skills have already been talked at length in this article.

To wrap up, I’ve one thing to say to these self-proclaimed true Bhakts that it’s high time that they learn some chivalry, Lord Krishna never preached in Bhagvad Gita to degrade any woman and none has yet forgot the repercussions Duryodhan had to face after disgracing a woman.

Coca Cola turns religious this Ramadan

“Thanda matlab…” every person knows what it means. It is the impact that Coca Cola advertisement has done to the society. Coca Cola always comes out with their best. This time they have thought to make an image without their branding. The recent one on the occasion of Ramadan has introduced a new version of its ideal red-and-white can in Middle Eastern countries. This new red can has dropped its legendary Coke’s ribbon logo and are moving on to promote open-mindedness and tolerance. Its new way coke has landed up into to promote their products, by directly targeting the mindset of people, with the message “Labels are for cans, not people.”

This push is part of Coca-Cola’s larger “Let’s take an extra second” campaign. This is not the first time they are playing with documentaries. This video shows a group of men sitting at a table in a dark room asking each other questions and becoming familiar, without knowing about their looks. After turning on the light the story is different, they are stunned to learn that they had misjudged what their new-found friends look like.

Thereby goes their motive of the campaign “we shouldn’t judge people by their looks,” which is something we all do every time. But reality is “There always a reason why they are the way they are”!

Isn’t it something which will get huge likes and many will favourite it too? The same happened; the photo has actually got viral on social networking site. His fans to whom he is pointing at the land ahead, although it’s fair to say none of his fans will have been admiring the scenery or may be admiring the perfect scene.

In a past, we have seen the nude picture of Kim Kardashian as well, with the quotation that she has no regret on this photo shot. Nudity is not the newer trend. But yes, nowadays there is no gender discrimination in this. Earlier, female were portrayed as a sex symbol now the days has changed and males may have the same benefits by the same stunts.

We agree, west favours these kinds of publicity stunts but these days the Eastern countries are not far behind. Indians in particular have started becoming accustomed to such controversies, be it a movie or a photo shoot. Remember the cleavage story about Deepika Padukone, or the male dominant actor Aamir Khan for PK. In fact Ranveer Kapoor, who came to notice by the towel dance in his movie Saawariya. All the major celebrity has done it.

Larger chunk of every population loves nudity! Bums, tums, chests and breasts and these are the reason why nudity has been the easiest way to publicity. When a naked person walks across the street you stop to look. Don’t you?

Sanitary Pads a Hazard to the Environment

Television Channels are flooded with the advertisements for Sanitary Pads. All the brands offer the best services and claim to be the best in the market. Who knew the “Leak-Proof technology” and long hours protection from stains offered by them is at the cost of our and environment’s health.

Sanitary Pad is one of the primary needs of every woman but did you know how much does it hamper the environment? According to “PeriodofChange” campaign started under “The Kachra Project” an average woman throws away about 150 kg of mostly non-biodegradable absorbents waste every year. Wondering where does it all go?

Disposal of sanitary pads is one of the most serious environmental causes of concern. The major issue is the categorization of the sanitary pads, on whether it is a bio-medical or a plastic waste. Used napkins (soiled), condoms, diapers and blood soaked cotton- come under the household waste according to the Municipal Solid Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2000. These waste products are disposed off after being segregated into biodegradable and non-biodegradable components.

According to the Bio-Medical Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 1998, the contaminated items with blood and body fluids like cotton, dressing material, used plaster casts, lines and bedding are bio-medical waste which should either be burnt or micro waved to destroy pathogens.

The soiled napkins after being thrown into waste are collected by garbage collectors as household napkins and are mostly segregated manually by these collectors.

The garbage pickers expose themselves to tremendous micro-organisms like E-Coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, HIV and pathogens which cause hepatitis and tetanus. The waste (sanitary pads) is then buried in a landfill at the garbage site, often at the outskirts of the city.

Since sanitary napkins are made of plastic, it is a non bio-degradable waste which is extremely harmful for the health and environment. The non-biodegradable, soiled napkins stay in the landfill for about 800 years.

The immediate solution to the problem by the government of India is burning the sanitary waste (napkins). According to WHO burning of sanitary waste should be done above 800 degrees. It is difficult in India to handle such high temperature and there is no provision also to check the emissions of the burnt waste.

One of the temporary solutions is to move to the traditional sanitary napkins. The cloth napkins can provide a short term relief to the hazardous problem. However according to the experts it is not a permanent gateway to the problem.

SAFE WAYS TO DISPOSE SANITARY PADS

  • Ladies, Wrap it in a plastic cover or a leak proof bag, to avoid spread of germs.
  • Or you can also wrap it in toilet paper with multiple sheets.
  • Dispose it off in such a place which is not in the reach of animals.
  • Use bins with lid to dispose it off. It will help to reduce the foul smell and will also keep the house flies away, therefore maintaining hygiene
  • Most importantly, keep it away from the household garbage. Do not burn it or flush it.
  • The government also seems keen on taking this issue seriously. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has proposed Draft Municipal Solid Wastes (Management and Handling) Rules, 2015 which is open to suggestions.

The tale of Supreme Court’s ‘Feminist Judgements’

Though the Government of India may not be successful in providing the appropriate security to the women of the county but I think the Supreme Court has taken the pledge to deliver the same.

It had not been long when the Supreme Court of India cautioned the judges saying, “Judges adopting a liberal approach in cases of sexual assault would be a spectacular error”, a week after the Madras high court granted bail to a rapist so that he could meet the victim for a possible settlement.

Today, the Supreme Court ruled that an unwed mother can be appointed as the sole legal guardian of her child without the consent of the father. According to the Supreme Court of India it is not even required to disclose the identity of the father which is no doubt a great boon for the female population.

Though both the judgements are quite commendable and we know there are yet more to come but some of the judgements given in the past can also not be ignored which also share the same taste of appreciation.

  1. Roxann Sharma v. Arun Sharma

The Supreme Court in this case held that in a battle between estranged parents, for the custody of minor child, who has not completed five years of age, shall be allowed to remain with the mother.

  1. Velusamy v. D. Patchaiammal

The Supreme Court in this case held that Live-in relationships will also come under Domestic Violence Act 2005. It is held that ‘not all live in relationships will amount to a relationship in the nature of marriage to get the benefit of the Act of 2005.

  1. Of course we all know the famous Vishaka judgement:

 A Bench, comprising of Chief Justice Verma, Justice Sujatha Manohar and Justice B.N. Kirpal issued Guidelines to prevent sexual harassment against women in work places. All complaints of sexual harassment by any woman employee would be directed to this committee.

  1. Vaddeboyina Tulasamma v. Vaddeboyina Shesha Reddi

The Supreme Court in this case highlighted the Hindu female’s right to maintenance as a tangible right against property which flows from the spiritual relationship between the husband and wife.

While all these statements can be viewed as the tryst of a woman to reassert their strength and to redefine the patriarchal laws there is still a long way to go in order to change the existing mind set of our misogynist society. But no doubt all these statements leads to a big conclusion that at least there is someone in the country who has not lend its deaf ears to the women of this country.

लोकसभा चुनाव में मोदी के सोशल मीडिया अभियान का ज़िम्मा संभालने वाले प्रशांत कुमार यही काम इस बार नीतिश कुमार के लिए करेंगे. इसकी झलक नीतिश की फेसबुक कैंम्पेन में भी दिखने लगी है.

नीतिश कुमार के पास इंजीनियरिंग की डिग्री है फिर भी सुशासन बाबू के नाम से मशहूर नीतिश, सोशल मीडिया की ताकत को समय रहते नहीं भांप सके. यह एक बड़ी वजह रही कि बीजेपी ने इस स्पेस को पूरी तरह इस्तेमाल किया. आम चुनावों के पहले नीतिश सोशल मीडिया को उतनी गंभीरता से नहीं लेते थे पर शायद उन चुनावों में सफाए ने उनकी आंखें खोल दीं. बिहार के वर्तमान सीएम नीतिश सोशल मीडिया पर कितने एक्टिव हैं इसका अंदाज़ा लगाने के लिए आपको बता दें कि फेसबुक से ट्विटर तक सारे बड़े सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्मस पर नीतिश का वेरिफाइड अकाउंट्स हैं. एक और खास बात यह है कि अब नीतिश बीजेपी और आप की तरह अपनी पार्टी जेडीयू से जुड़ी हर गतिविधि का सोशल मीडिया पर जमकर प्रचार करते हैं.

साथ ही लालू प्रसाद यादव को भी ट्विटर पर आए लंबा समय हो चुका है. योग दिवस पर भाजपा नेताओं की तोंद को लेकर किया गया उनका ट्वीट बताता हैं कि वह कितनी सटीकता से इस माध्यम का इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं. रवीश कुमार को दिए गए एक इंटरव्यू में भी वो सोशल मीडिया को लेकर अपने इरादे जाहिर कर चुके हैं.

  1. सुशील मोदी ने सोशल मीडिया पर खुद को भविष्य सीएम घोषित किया

वैसे तो मोदी नंबर-2 यानि सुशील मोदी ट्विटर पर लंबे समय से एक्टिव हैं पर एक्टिव होने के नाम पर पहले वे सिर्फ अखबारों में छपि ख़बरें ट्वीट किया करते थे लेकिन जैसे ही चुनाव नज़दीक आया और बीजेपी ने एलान किया कि एक बार फिर चुनाव मोदी-2 नहीं बल्कि नरेंद्र मोदी के नेतृत्व में लड़ा जाएगा तब से सुशील मोदी का पूरा कलेवर बदल गया. अब आप उनके ट्विटर हैंडल और फेसबुक पेज पर जाएंगे तो पाएंगे कि उन्होंने पार्टी लाइन से बाहर जाकर खुद को सीएम पद उम्मीदवार घोषित कर दिया है. इससे दो मज़ेदार बातें सामने आती हैं- 1. हर मोदी अपने आप को किसी न किसी पद का उम्मीदवार घोषित करने में लगा रहता है (ये वाला मज़ाक में लें) और 2. मोदी-2 बिहार चुनाव को सोशल मीडिया के सहारे सबसे मसालेदार बनाने वाले फैक्टर साबित हो सकते हैं.

  1. भाजपा है सोशल मीडिया महारथी

भाजपा को तो इसमें महारथ हासिल है. भले ही वो ‘आप’ से दिल्ली में चुनाव हार गई हो पर जिस तरह के हिडन एजेंडा के साथ वो सोशल मीडिया का उपयोग करते हैं, वो जात और धर्म आधारित बिहार की राजनीतिक परिस्थितियों क़े लिए कारगर साबित हो सकती है.

  1. कांग्रेस वाले देर आए पर दुरुस्त आए की नहीं पता नहीं

शुरू में सोशल मीडिया को नज़रअंदाज़ करती रही कांग्रेस भी सोशल मीडिया पर अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज़ करा रही हैं. उपाध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी भी ट्विटर पर अपना आधिकारिक अकाउंट शुरू कर चुके हैं.

  1. जिनके भक्तगण ज्यादा गाली देंगे वो जितेगा

इन सबके अलावा गाली देने वाले भक्तगण तो हर पार्टी के पास हैं ही. बस जिसके भक्तगण ज्यादा होंगे और ज्यादा गाली देंगे वो पार्टी कम से कम फेसबुक और ट्विटर पर तो चुनाव जीतती दिखेगी.

  1. हिडन एजेंडा के लिए है बेस्ट प्लेटफॉर्म

हकीकत में युवा वोट बैंक को साधने और अपनी छवि चमकाने से अलग सोशल मीडिया का उपयोग अपने हिडन एजेंडा चलाने के लिए भी खूब होता रहा है. व्हाट्सएप्प के जरिये ध्रुवीकरण की कोशिश पहले भी होती रही है. लोकसभा चुनाव से पहले मुजफ्फरपुर दंगे इस बात का प्रमाण हैं. बिहार में भी इस तरह की कोशिशें की जा सकती हैं. साथ ही फेसबुक व्हाट्सएप्प के जरिये भ्रम फैलाने की राजनीति भी खूब होती हैं. भगवान और अल्लाह को फेसबुक पर चमका कर काफी कुछ किया जाता है. यह सोशल मीडिया का सबसे खतरनाक उपयोग है और दुर्भाग्य से हमारे नेताओं को इसमें भी महारथ हासिल है.

  1. सोशल मीडिया ने खुद को साबित किया

इन बड़े समाजवादी नेताओं में सोशल मीडिया के प्रति अचानक उभरे इस प्यार की वजह क्या है? दरअसल सोशल मीडिया की पहुंच और लोकप्रियता बढ़ती ही जा रही है. इसकी अहमियत का अंदाज़ा इसी बात से लगाया जाया सकता हैं कि विपक्ष आजकल प्रधानमंत्री को ट्वीट तक न करने पर घेरता रहता है. साथ ही नीतिश और लालू से लेकर भाजपा और ‘आप’ तक ने जिस चालाकी से सोशल मीडिया का उपयोग किया हैं, वो हम देख चुके हैं. सोशल मीडिया युवाओं को उनके पक्ष में मोड़ने का जरिया भी बन सकता है.

  1. बिहार में कितना सफल होगा सोशल मीडिया

इन सब तैयारियों के बीच यह सवाल उठाना लाज़िमी हैं कि आखिर जातिगत और धार्मिक राजनीति के लिए जाने वाले बिहार में सोशल मीडिया का उपयोग किस तरह से होगा? क्या सोशल मीडिया के होने की वजह से जातिगत और धार्मिक राजनीति नहीं होगी? या सोशल मीडिया महज इस तरह की राजनीति के तरीके को बदलेगी.

  1. अंत में बस रह जाते हैं वही ढ़ाक के तीन पात-

इन सब से अलग एक सच्चाई और है. सच्चाई यह है कि भारतीय राजनीति में सिर्फ चुनाव प्रचार के तरीके बदलते हैं, चेहरे बदलते हैं ,पार्टी बदलती है पर भारतीय राजनीति का चरित्र नहीं बदलता. मतदाता को बुरे और अधिक बुरे में चुनना पड़ता हैं और यही भारतीय लोकतंत्र की त्रासदी बन चुकी है. बिहार भी इससे कुछ अलग नहीं हैं. वादे सोशल मीडिया पर ही किये जाते हैं और वहीं पर ही पूरे होते भी दिखते हैं. खैर आप ये छोड़िये और लोकतंत्र के एक और तमाशे का मज़ा लीजिये. हाँ, ट्वीट जरूर करते रहिएगा ताकि पता चल सके कि आप किस पार्टी (माफ़ कीजियेगा मेरा मतलब किस नेता)  के भक्त हैं.
